Hi,
Does anyone have any advice regarding how much salt to try in the salt water flush recipe if the standard recipe (of 2 level teaspoons of uniodized sea salt in 1 quart of warm spring water) is not having the desired result of providing a cleaning out within a reasonable length of time...and not really within any length of time? I tried the standard 2 teaspoons the first day, then I tried 2.5 teaspoons the next day, and then I tried 3 teaspoons on day 3. Any thoughts on whether to keep increasing the salt amount? Or maybe start to drop to below the 2 teaspoons? I did the cleanse a number of times over the past few years and did not have this kind of trouble with the flush. Instead, during those times, I did indeed have a good cleaning out within anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. And, yes, I do the salt water flush in the morning, after having had the senna tea the night before.
Thanks!

The most I used personally was 4 teaspoons, and it worked BUT caused major water retention for a few days. So I actually stopped doing the SWF, I only did it 6 times during my 40 Day cleanse because the tea worked fine for me. Everytime I did the flush it just caused me to retain water and feel bloated, so it didn't work for me correctly.

But I will give you an important tip… Immediately lay on your right side in bed and set a timer for 30 minutes exactly.

LAYING ON YOUR RIGHT SIDE IS THE KEY!!!

The exit of the stomach into the small intestines is on the lower right hand side of the stomach. When you drink the saltwater goes to the bottom of the stomach, below the opening. To get the saltwater into the small intestine, you need to tip the stomach like a teapot so the saltwater flows out. That's why you lie on your right side.

Once the saltwater is in the small intestines, the muscle contractions will carry it down the rest of the way. In about an hour you should be able to massage the left hand side of your lower abdomen and hear liquids gurgling. These are liquids that have flowed into the large intestines almost ready for evacuation.

You must remain on your right side for the full 30 minutes, after that time you are allowed to get up and go about your business and walk around the house. Standing and walking is good, to help assist gravity. You should have a elimination in 1 to 2 hours, though everyone is a little different.

While laying down I felt some horrible cramps and pains of the liquid moving, but I forced myself to remain laying down and did not get up. Twice I had the urge to go to the bathroom, but still forced myself to remain laying down to allow the flush to run its course and flow outside of my stomach. Once I stood up I went to the bathroom once 5 minutes later. And then close to an hour later I had to go again, and I went 6 times over the course of one hour. So all in all the flush took 2 ½ hours total to run its full course!

Thank you so much, sarahs! I likely will, similar to your maximum, try 4 teaspoons next. I am a bit nervous of the potential retention also, but 3.5 teaspoons seemed to have worked a little better than 3 teaspoons, so I may try just that one more ratcheting up to the 4 teaspoons. AND I will definitely try the lying on the right side. I'm optimistic! Thanks again, and I'll let you know...hopefully...that it worked.
