I am successfully on day four of my cleanse! I have not yet attempted the salt water flush (I will on my next day off), therefore I have been using the laxitive teas at night and in the morning. The first two days I produced 2-3 bulky bowel movements which caused no discomfort. Yesterday and today however have been squirt city leaving my bum quite raw (toilet paper at work is one grade better than sandpaper!). Is this normal? Please advise, this is my first cleanse. |

Yep, that's normal. In the first couple of days waste from your previous food intake is expelled. Then your bowels are pretty much empty, so it's mostly liquid from then on. And burning is common as toxins are expelled. I suggest applying a thick cream or ointment that's protective down there. My own preference is Weleda Body Cream but you can also get a baby "diaper" cream from a pharmacy. |

Thank you MC Guide! I brought my wipes to work today just in case, although I haven't had a bowel movement yet. I experienced such cramping from yesterday's morning lax tea that I just drank a detox tea this morning. I will definitely look into the soothing ointment! ![]() |

You're welcome… And if you've had cramps from the "tea," did it by any chance contain senna? I've often seen the tea Smooth Move recommended, whose main ingredient is the harsh laxative senna. That works by irritating the colon and does progressive harm to bowel function, so I suggest staying away from that. But make sure you're moving your bowels daily to keep toxins moving out. Chamomile tea and the salt water flush can do that more gently. |
