I was looking for information regarding post-lemon cleanse experiences, and I came across a message which Shiva posted elsewhere on the forum, which I partially quoted down below. I finished an 11-day lemon cleanse about four weeks ago, and I feel quite good about it. I know I definitely removed a few layers of toxins from my system. I used her message as a guideline during my rebuild period - it was very helpful, the voice of experience emphasizing not to drink anything but fresh-squeezed juice for the first while, building up to vegetables and rice, etc.
So, one of the results which was discussed in her message that I wanted to ask about is related to bowel movements post-cleanse. Originally, I was concerned about constipation upon completion of the lemon cleanse, due to a possible physiological dependence due to near-daily consumption of the laxative tea. But now, it's quite different. I actually need to go about three to five times a day (at a minimum: in the morning, then after work, and again in the evening before bed) which seems to remind of Shiva's own toilet-frequenting experience. Not that I have a problem with this - it's always pretty solid, and I'm glad to get rid of the stuff, of course!
Anyway, there are a number of differences I find, besides the much greater frequency of bowel movements (previous to the cleanse, I'd only need to go every day or two), and I was curious if anyone else has had similar experiences: 1) before the lemon cleanse, whenever I had to go, it really stank the bathroom up - and now I really find that it doesn't smell afterwards... so am not quite as self-conscious for anybody who has to follow me in
2) before, I always had to wipe multiple times before I was clean around my back passage - now I take a single square, carefully wipe it, and then check it to find there was nothing, that it was quite clean to begin with; 3) before, my poo would always float on the water and tend to come in a couple of pieces as larger sizes - now, most of it seems to sink, and come in more numerous smaller individual sizes. Anyone else experienced something similar?
Well, hope you don't mind the descriptions. Glad this forum is fairly anonymous! I hope that I'm normal. Overall, I do prefer these new habits, and hope they stay. Definitely better to have such a seemingly efficient digestive system than to have that matter stagnate inside.
Thanks for your responses,
K

Hi Nia,
You did it wrong and caused yourself to be constipated. I have done this so many times. Had to learn the hard way too. When we stop fasting, we juice one day for every four we were on the cleanse. If you fast for 40 days, you must break with 10 days on juice. The 10 day fast, requires a full 2 1/2 days. NEVER do a fast, and then anxiously speed up this process or you will get CONSTIPATED for about a week. And you will feel like shit, sorry, but you will. Emotionally we crash and it's a mess. Your body just detoxed and now it can't get rid of the waste because you just weren't thinking. It's OK, but remember fasting is just the first step of the cleanse, and step 2, the aftercare is MORE IMPORTANT than the fast to your body, because this is when we get to change it so beautifully to work for us like never before. It is so great when you do it right. So please try and learn.
Fasting has two stages. The fast itself, and then the rebuild period. Rebuild is twice as long as the fast. So say you fasted 10 days, your rebuild period is then 20 days. The first two and a half you have watered down OJ by one third spring water, and thats all you have, plus a couple large water bottles those days, and everyday of your life thereafter. A good rule of thumb is to drink two large Evian type bottles of water, every day... plus... your juice. OK then for the next 17 !/2 days you are still on your cleanse cycle, but you get to chew food. But not your old diet... NO... you eat veggie soups, fruit salads, lots of sprouts and greens and tons of fresh juices. After OJ stops we eat veggie soup only for several days along with fruits and salads and smoothies for chocies for our other meals. This is all we eat. You could have Cantalope for breakfast, and it's a green smoothie for lunch and for dinner a bowl of soup. Next day apples for breakfast, smoothie for lunch again, and your soup again. We don't even eat brown rice, until after day 5 when returning to eating, when you have fasted for ten days. If you do 40 like me, I don't eat anything but water based raw foods for 20 days after the juice ends... the first time you eat anything other than a veggie soup or a mono meal it should be something very simple and bland... not bread, not alcohol, not sugar for god's sake!!! No sugar coming off MC until your rebuild period is over. Then your body can handle the old you. I do this everytime I finish fasting, and my body from the first day on OJ starts having solid BM's about a half hour after the colon has anything at all in it. It is amazing!! I can't beleive how many times I go #2 all day long. Don't forget the probiotics must start the night before juicing and to stop the flushes once juice commences.
