I am currently on day 9 of a 40 day cleanse.
I work at a fine-dining restaraunt as a server. Most of the people that I work with think I am insane for doing this.
All day I see food. Bone-In Filets dressed with Bordalaix sauce and wild oyster pushrooms, pan seared halibt with saffron aeoli and slow roasted tomatoes, arugula salad with lemon vinagerette and roasted pine nuts, eggplant rouladde with basil cream and cous-cous, and etc...
I gave up meat this year in an effort to jump start my path towards a healthy lifestyle. It helped and after my 1st cleanse, which was 18 days, I felt refreshed, like a formatted computer.
I want the feeling again, which is why I am doing a second cleanse. I know its hard, I know at middle of day 1 you are most likely to eat something and just say "I'll start tomorrow". If you go down that road, it is much harder completing the cleanse than if you stick with it.
If I can do it, and I work around French fine dining all day, with chipotle honey butter and caramel choclate ganache, and wonderful foods that smell and torture you all day, than anyone can.
I am not even that hard core with self-discipline, and I really feel that anyone can do this if they want to.
