Master Cleanse Forum - Master Cleanser Lemonade Diet

As a gastro-enterology nurse I am excited to try the cleanse but, I have seen the effects of senna on the large intestine. It works to clean out the colon at first, but it is my understanding that a neuro-muscular dependency forms and the colon comes to require senna to function properly. I have seen the inside of a colon that suffered from long term laxative use and it did not look healthy, trust me.

Are there any laxative teas that do not have senna or products that can cause dependency?

unfortunately it is the fact that it is a laxative tea that causes the dependency not that it contains senna specifically...ANY laxative will eventually cause dependency...

the reason for the tea and the swf is that without food the bowels need a little push to fill up and move...of course if that makes you uncomfortable (and I can understand why) you could use it on again and off again...depending on how long you will be on the cleanse.
