I decided to do the MC for health reasons. I had an appendectomy in 1999 and ended up back in the hospital for several days with a massive infection and the requisite "gorilla" antibiotics. My bowels have never been the same. I'm hoping that the MC will allow my body to finally heal itself. Plus I am typically tired most of the time and fall asleep easily in meetings or on the couch or the floor, but I don't typically sleep well at night. At 6'1" and 185, I don't have to lose a lot of weight, but I do feel kind of soft and inflexible. I hope that improves, too.

I'm on day three and feeling pretty good....I fear that's not a good sign! I should be in the throes of detox, no? I have been strictly adhering to the Master Cleanser formula. I'm still struggling to figure out the correct SWF salt-to-water ratio for me, though. It's just not doing the job as I think it should. The funniest thing to me is that I've had two dreams wherein I have "accidentally" broken the fast early...once with a full restaurant meal and once with a huge bowl of tortilla chips. Weird.

I don't know how long I plan to continue, although I know I'll do at least ten days and will likely go longer. My wife is mostly supportive of me in this effort and also rather leery of the whole thing. My children think it's pretty strange and pretty neat at the same time. I hope that my experience will influence them to better care for themselves.

hey Motu,

Great job on focusing on your health for your family, they are lucky to have you care that much.

I too often dream I have broken the fast when fasting, didn't remember that until you said that, that's funny! There have been a few times over the years I dreamed that I smoked too, and I haven't done that since 2006.

It's fine that you are feeling good, we are all different and feel it all the same way. It takes a couple tbsps of salt to do anything for me. (I eat it, then drink the water, works out the same.)

Best wishes for a great cleanse!

Kat

Day 4 and going strong. I upped the SWF to 2.5 tablespoons salt, and it worked a little better. I also tried putting a fingertip of maple syrup on my tongue prior to drinking it, and that really helped it go down. Feeling a little more malaise today, and still having vivid dreams. No food involved this time....just a big Navy warship that I untied from its dock that drifted away too quickly for me to jump in and catch (like I could have anyway)! I'm amazed that I've had enough energy to work around the yard as much as I have today. I had read that this should be the case, but I'm not sure I believed it.

Day 5 has been a tougher day for hunger pangs...probably had something to do with being less busy. I upped the SWF to 2.75 teaspoons salt and got better results, but still not very timely. No weird dreams to report.

I couldn't figure out a way to complete the SWF with my schedule yesterday. So I used the laxative tea in the morning....not a big fan of that, as it kind of dragged out the process. Otherwise Day 6 was fine. Food sure did look and smell good, though!

Day 7 today, and things are fine. I weighed myself this morning, and I'm down below 170. I didn't expect to lose that much weight, but I feel pretty good. My wife sure has noticed the difference. I don't expect any issue making it to 10 days, and I'm still undecided how much longer I'll go. I upped the SWF to 3 teaspoons salt today, and that did seem to produce better results, but it burned my throat a little bit as I swallowed.

How are you timing the SWF? I dont like the tea either, first the cramping which I'm not a fan of and it def doesn't produce the results as well as the SWF. I was actually thinking about doing the tea at night and when I start to cramp around 3 in the morning doing the SWF and I should be done by the time I need to go to work. Talk about restless mornings though taking 3 or so hours in the morning to set aside for this instead of sleeping.

Let me know how laying on your right side works out for you. I couldn't believe how well it worked for me the first time trying that today!

You are past the hardest days! And I totally agree, the smells are amazing but suck all at the same time because you can almost taste them.

Day 8. Laying on the right side candidly didn't do much for me. I think it still took about 5 hours to get through the SWF with 3 teaspoons of salt today. BUT I still liked it better than tea in the morning! Sluggish bowels is one of the main reasons that I thought I would try the master cleanse. I hope that the length of the SWF doesn't mean that it's not helping.

So my dilemma now is how long should I continue the master cleanse. I'm certain I'll make it 10 days, but how much longer do I go? Is it until my tongue turns pink? And what does a pink tongue look like? Should I continue longer than that? So many questions..... :?: :?: :?: Any advice or counsel would be appreciated.

Day 9. A lot of hunger pangs today. I still feel good, though. My tongue is very much NOT turning pink yet. I went back to 2 teaspoons salt today, and it worked just like it has with 3 teaspoons. I'm currently thinking that I'll stretch it to 14 days just to see what happens, and since it's my first MC, I won't go longer than that.

Day 11. I think I may have noticed a little less slime on my tongue today. I'm happy about that because candidly I'm getting tired of the MC. I want to find out what it has done for me. But I also want to give it its full chance to do something. I'm committed to go until my tongue goes pink or for 14 days, whichever comes first. It has taken a lot to get me to day 11, and I'm happy with how my body has reacted. I've lost about 16 lbs. and have stayed there for a few days now. Even though my goal was not weight loss, it is a pleasant side effect! I had forgotten how good skinny feels, and so had my wife -- she likes the skinny me. So I'll soldier on for up to another three days and look forward to some solid (healthy) food.

Somehow the SWF did not go well today....very little elimination afterwards. I'll keep trying until the end.

Congrats! I can't believe you've gone this far on your first try. I failed miserably a couple times for the last 3 years.

Day 12. Tongue is looking clearer....still not sure what it's supposed to look like. I'm thinking that today may be the last day of my first Master Cleanse, and I'll start the transition tomorrow! I'll wait and see what the tongue looks like in the morning, but at most it will be two more days. :D

Thanks, pepperdy, for the encouragement!

Day 13. Tongue was nearly clear today, and I decided it was time to end my first master cleanser. So I started on orange juice and probiotics. I hope I made the right decision, as my tongue was pretty coated again tonight. It came pretty clean with brushing, though....that didn't happen during the MC. I don't know whether that's typical or not. In any event, I'm glad I did it and I'm more glad that it's nearly over! Next time on the MC will be another adventure.
