Day 31/40 - happy to be in the single digits left on my MC. Still feeling good and it has been relatively smooth - but I am looking forward to food. Also - the scale hasn't budged in a few days. I drink over 100 oz of water/day, exercise daily, and the monthly biological reason for water retention is not present, so I am not sure what is going on. Even though my tongue isn't pink, maybe my body is done detoxing?

I haven't stopped craving food and I don't think that would go away for me even if I went 100 days! I crave good food though - mango, blueberries, bananas, etc. so maybe that isn't all bad?

I hope everyone is having a great day, happy cleansing!!

Idaho, it sounds like you're doing fabulous. I don't think I could make it to 40 days. My hat's off to you. You've probably done wonders for your health, and reading through your journal has been very inspiring and encouraging for me. So thank you!

Keep it up. You're almost there. :)

Day 32/40. Ugh, so frustrated. I have gained 4 pounds since Saturday. HOW is that possible??!! It is not that time of the month, I drink 100+ oz of water daily, I exercise. I think I am having a reaction to the salt water flush. My legs/ankles look swollen. I am going to try something that I read about in another journal thread (Joyce261) - I am going to try a 5 day water fast and 5 day juice feast/raw diet to finish out my cleanse. I am not sure I will make it all 5 days on water only - I work full time and have two little ones (ages 2 and 4) that keep me busy in the evenings, but I am going to try. I know I can make it 4 days - I have a desk job and the weekdays aren't that busy if I don't want them to be.

I kind of like testing myself - is that weird? I made it 31 days on lemonade and cayenne pepper - now can I make it 5 days with no food at all? I think I have been so addicted to food for so long that it feels good to know that I can do this and when I get back to a "normal" diet can eat in moderation. I have lost 95 pounds since January 7 - so ate clean for months before starting the MC. I probably won't hit my goal weight (145 pounds, I think) until August or September and I am hoping that clean eating and fasting for 8-9 months is enough to constitue a life style change that will stick this time around.

So today is Day 1 of the water fast. Weight= 188 pounds. I kept the workout low key this AM so I don't get too hungry, but I am also afraid to lose the muscle that I have spent the last 90 days building - just finished P90X on Sunday. I started Jillian Michael's Body Revolution on Monday (without the diet plan) and the first two weeks look to be pretty low key, which is perfect for water fasting and juicing.

Wish me luck, I am afraid that I will need it. To anyone else that happens to stop by - kudos if you are rocking it, and hang in there if you are struggling. We can do it!!

Have a great day!

Day 33/40 - second day of water fast. First day went surprisingly well. I am a little hungrier today, but not too bad. I am not going to weigh myself until Sunday AM so I won't be tempted to end the fast before then. We'll see if I make it that long without peeking. I feel thinner and the leg/feet swelling went away, so I think it was just a reaction to the SWF.

Day 34/40 - third day of water only fast. Not crazy hungry yet (surprisingly), but a little dizzy if I stand up too quickly and had to sit down in the shower this morning to keep from falling over. Hmmm.....maybe the water fast wasn't such a good idea. I will try it another day or two and see how I feel. I skipped my morning and noon workouts today to recover. If I feel better over the weekend I can make the workout up on Sunday (normal rest day).

I am excited to make juices/smoothies. I have been researching it for a few weeks and just dropped a boat load on a Vita Mix blender and Breville juicer. Yep, I am totally committed. I am struggling with getting my kids to eat more veggies and hope that I can disguise some in smoothies and juices. Yes, I know it is better for them to learn to eat veggies instead of tricking them - but they are 2 and 4 so I really don't mind tricking them for awhile. I have ordered some supplements and things from iHerb and have found the best place in town to buy others. I think I am going to transition out of the cleanse on a single juice - orange juice and not a blend. After 36-40 days I know I will need to break in my stomach slowly. I accidently licked a gravy spoon awhile ago while making dinner for the family and was really sick. So I am thinking 2 days of just OJ and then OJ and a veggie broth for a day or two.....something like that.

Sorry, little chatty today. I had an appointment this AM and then took a mid-morning nap before going into work so I am feeling good today.

To anyone stopping by - I hope you are having a great day. If you are struggling - hang in there, we can do this!!! My motivation for the day - a sign that I read somewhere on a Facebook post - "Tired of starting over? Quit giving up!". Fits me to a T. I am getting healthy this year and then will stay that way!!!

Idaho, be careful on your water fast. Bear in mind that i had plenty of energy to last 5 days because i had eaten a lot of food right before the fast. Everyone is different so you might last longer or shorter than i did...just listen to your body. Good luck!

I agree with Joyce on the water fast thing... don't get too crazy about the numbers on the scale-- they're only numbers-- and they really don't mean a whole lot, considering that it would take a huge amount of calorie intake for you to actually gain 4 pounds of fat. Also consider that with the amount of exercise you do, it is entirely possible that your body is resisting weight loss because it is going into "starvation mode".

Hey, you're doing FANTASTIC! Just don't lose sight of the bottom line-- you will have to go back to eating regularly soon, and will have to be realistic about the whole weight numbers thing. Do everything in moderation-- and your body will follow!

Wow, kudos to those that can do the water fast. I didn't make the 5 days and am happy to stop. I was getting dizzy, had to sit down in the shower so I wouldn't fall over, and then yesterday had really bad muscle cramps/extreme weakness in my legs - so I am done. I had juice this morning and am off to the grocery store after work to stock up on supplies for juicing the next few days to come off of the cleanse/fast. I am a little disappointed to not make my 40 days as originally planned, but my body is telling me that it is done.

So, 34 pounds down and happy with the results. Never did get the pink tongue, but oh well. It was worth it and I am looking forward to losing more weight through my continued exercise programs and eating well.

Idaho, you are a rock star! Congratulations for making it 35 days, that's amazing and I hope you are really proud of your accomplishments. I just read through your journal as I'm on Day 1 today of what I hope will be a longer cleanse. I loved the quote above -- perfect inspiration as I begin my journey, as was the rest of your 35-day journal!

I'd love to hear how things go as you transition off the cleanse, so if you can, please do keep us posted -- and again, congratulations!
