Yesterday was a day of relative indulgence, the day I've been building up to during the entire cleanse, the inevitable post-cleanse celebratory feast!
My morning was so busy I didn't even have time to make a juice, so I completely skipped breakfast. Then I met some friends for lunch, and indulged in one of my most favourite meals: Chicken Panang at my favourite Thai Restaurant. This stuff is so good, it practically has its own religious cult of followers.
I can't imagine how many calories are at work in this bad boy. It's chicken slow cooked in a thai coconut/peanut sauce/lemon grass/royal basil based curry sauce. All ladled on top of a mound of white rice (of which we had one and a half orders each!) To begin with, I had an order of spring rolls. The only act of restraint I exerted was to order a Perrier water for my beverage.
Following the feast, I had my first cup of tea: 2 milks and one sugar.
Then we went back to a friend's place for the evening where I had a couple glasses of wine and a small piece of cheesecake.
Upon returning home later that night, my girlfriend had surprised me with a treat, not for finishing the cleanse but I had some good news yesterday with regards to a project I'm working on. So to congratulate me, she bought me half a dozen of my favourite truffles from one of my favourite chocolatiers: chili chocolate truffles! (unreal!!!!)
So for my late night snack, I ate the truffles with a nice hot cup of tea (two milks, one sugar.)
So it was with a certain resigned trepidation that I hit the scales this morning, knowing full well that the news would be less than desirable.
I can't imagine how many calories I consumed yesterday but surely it was above and beyond the acceptable limits! Not that I was worried. This was a day I'd set aside for relative indulgence, so I was prepared to take a hit.
So you can imagine my surprise to find that not only did I NOT gain weight from yesterday but that I actually dropped .4 of a pound!
What the hell is with that?
How the hell did that happen?
Nevermind. Never look a gift horse in the mouth! I guess my weight loss guardian angel did me a solid and gave me a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card!
Anyway, tonight is Halloween. It's a night of parties and inevitable drinking (although I plan to be very good, very restrained.) But before all that begins, I have a big day in the kitchen, preparing the meals I've been planning for a while.
Today, the cooking begins........
