Okay, I'm back after a week hiatus. I was disappointed that people were losing double digits by Day 10 and I did it for 12 days and only lost 5 pounds; and I wasn't feeling better. But I will try again. I am looking to lose about 35 pounds. This time, I am in until I lose most or all of the weight. This time, I will limit the SWF to once a week, since my buddy on this forum said she started losing after she skipped it. Okay here I go.

Hey Y!
Good luck on getting back to it-- and don't feel bad about your first cleanse-- 12 days is great! I just wanted to note that if you skip the SWF, do the laxative tea instead. I found when I was doing it both mornings and evenings, I had success at loosing weight. Good luck!

hey ladyb,
wishing you best of luck on the cleanse!
when i don't have time for the SWF (which seems like a lot of mornings lately) i do the SM tea in the AM and PM too, and i have lost weight.
i'm pretty finicky when it comes to how i do the SWF anyway, but if it helps for the days you do it, here's what works for me:

1. i have to feel hydrated. if i wake up with a dry mouth or any other sign of dehydration, i drink 1-2 pint glasses of water first.
2. if i drink water, i wait a little while (up to 30 minutes) and then i do the SWF (really, i think i'm just procrastinating here, i'm not a huge fan of the SWF, but when it works for me, it feels fantastically cleansing)
3. i prepare the water so that it's as hot as i can stand it, but warm enough so i can get it down quickly by chugging it. my method is to boil about 20oz of water and add the rest as room temp water. then i add the salt -- i put it all in a blender for about 10 seconds to make sure the salt is incorporated and when it's a good temp for me to chug it, i go for it.

if all goes well, the "flush" occurs within 30m; and if things are not moving in the right direction quickly enough (i admit, i'm pretty impatient to get it out of me) i will either drink more plain water (1-2 pints) or have a glass of the MC mix or some combination of the two. That usually gets it going pretty well -- i don't find that this "dilutes" the original mixture or anything as some other people on the board have mentioned.

*FYI, When I start the cleanse, I always wait a few days before embarking on the SWF -- i want my colon to be a little more empty before I do it -- when I don't do that, I find that I feel bloated afterward, and getting to that "flushing" moment is more drawn out and more uncomfortable.

Thank you new beginnings. When I did the SWF, I didn't have a problem with it. It worked fine for me. I even felt it worked better than the tea. But it looks like it's holding my weight back; maybe the salt slows down the metabolism, but I'm not sure. I did it for 11 days out of the 12 days, and I only lost 5 pounds, so this time, I will skip it and do the tea both mornings and night, and see what happens.

Hi Ladyb

I'm glad you came back on the mc. It does sound like the swf is doing something to stop you losing weight doesn't it. When I was reading your first diary I thought it must be water retention and that you'd still be burning fat. I had a look on the net and there does seem to be some suggestions that salt can slow the metabolism in some people. Maybe you are just one of those people who absorb too much of it on the swf.

On my first cleanse I always lost less weight on the day after doing the swf than those days that I hadn't. BUT I still fet I was losing fat and lost plenty of weight over the cleanse.

This cleanse I can't even keep the swf down, I like doing it, but my stomach has other ideas and just will not stop throwing it back up!!

I hope this cleanse goes well for you. I'm hoping to go for 30 days (on day 10 now) so I'll be around for a while.

Read with caution: I am going to use this post to list all the food that I feel like cooking and eating after the cleanse is over (that doesn't mean I will eat them). It's just that I have been dreaming of these foods as I fast. It helps me to think I can eat them when it's all over. Some of them are dishes from my home-town. All I can think of is delicious food:

Meat pie
Scotch egg
Beef Wellington (never had this before)
Shrimp Vegetable fried rice
Jollof-rice
Clam Chowder (never had this before, maybe I'll make my own version)
Moi-moi
Akara
Spaghetti with shrimp corned-beef sauce
Pounded yam with egusi.
Fried yam with stew.

Day 4 - Weighed myself this morning, and I can't believe I am less than 188. I haven't seen less than 188 in more than three years. It feels so good. 7 pounds in 3 days is amazing. I hope I keep on losing. Anyway, I wanted to post some of the things about my body I hate, and I will be checking them off as I lose these things:

1) My double chin - hate it
2) Cellulite at the back/side of my arms
3) Cellulite on my thighs - Just developed this in the last 3 years - I think falling off the Atkins Diet did this.
4) Side Fat - People say back fat but mine is really at the side. I am now seeing it reduce so that's good.
5) Get my abs - I used to have the flattest abs in the world. But again, the last three/four years has been the opposite.
6) My ankles have really been big too. I had the tinest ankles and wrists, but now my ankles are massive. My wrists have remained the same however.

I think all this started when I fell off the Atkins Diet. Even though I loved the Atkins, and it gave me my best body ever, I didn't go through all the four stages. I should have started adding back the carbs and increasing my workouts. But I stuck on the Stage 1, just eating proteins for more than 2 years. I think one day, I realized I had not eaten carb for 2 years and my first taste of carb gave me non-stop carbs and sugar cravings which made me ballon to 200 pounds. Atkins Diet is a great Diet, just make sure you start adding the carbs week by week by going thru the all 4 stages of the Diet.

Anyway, does anybody know how I could add pictures to postings? I want to add postings of women that have the bodies I admire.

This is Miss Universe 2009 (?) Dayanes Mendoza. I really admire her body and she's my motivation. I know people put pictures of a person with the body they admire on their fridge to keep them motivated. I just decided to use my diary and paste my picture. I think she's beautiful!



I might paste more pictures as my diary grows in pages, just to keep things interesting.

Day 6 - I'm amazed at how much weight I've lost since coming back from a week's break. 11 pounds in just 5 days, for a total of 13 pounds. I actually feel myself losing weight. I will sit someplace for an hour, and when I get up, I feel I've lost 1/2 a pound..cause my clothes are loser. It's great but it's scary..hey not complaining. I was telling my buddy that I think that the week's break was helpful since I'm not experiencing the horrible symptoms I felt before the break. And the book also insist of doing only a 10 day clease if you are doing it for the first time, then taking time off and coming back. So maybe the author was right.

Anyway, I went to the movies yesterday..the smell of popcorn was intoxicating. I love the movies, and I have a number of fall movies I want to see in the next few weekends. It's punishment to sit there without eating popcorn. It's just not the same experience without the popcorn.

Ha ha ha, 2 nights ago, I dreamt I killed somebody (a famous person, I won't mention the name) for the last slice of pizza in a pizza delivery box. I really thought the dream was real..until I woke up. Phew!
