Hey out there...

I'm so glad I stumbled on this forum. Hoping for lots of good dialogue and support as I sorta wind down my first Master Cleanse.

This is Day 25 for me...and I'm loving the process.

I would love to hear from anyone that is currently doing or has experience with a "marathon" master cleanse...30+ days (but open to chat with any one on the journey). I would love to hear from you...pick your brain...share experiences.

Really brief, myself and a friend I work with, have been supporting one another from the get go (October 17 start). Now because we are going for the long haul we are starting to get the pleas from co-workers..."stop, before you hurt yourself"(chuckle, chuckle- I find it amusing).

My friend (shout out to red spice) has done the MC before. But she is on her first journey with me doing the MC …sugar cane style. The research hound I am, I realized the cleanse author Burroughs stated cane juice was a valid base for the MC but because of its lack of availability in the States it is not as widely used. We are based in the Caribbean and have year round access to sugar cane. No brainer for me.

It has been FANTASTIC. The taste, energy level, the detox, no food cravings...will give more details later; I have been logging the journey.

I don't detox for weight loss( and there has been ); I'm in it for the mental detox. I also had eczema prior to becoming a conscious eater 10 years ago so I like to give my system a good cleanse in some way annually. And the MC has been WONDERFUL to tackle these and to jump start my transition to become 100% raw vegan.

We kinda thought we were doing this for 10-14 days. Then it went to 20; and then we said 30. But then we thought - if we were going to go that far...hell...shoot for 40! So we have promised that is the cut off....November 25, 2010 we come off the MC.

At this point I would like to connect with anyone else that is in it for the long haul or has done the MC for a long stretch. I read the detox goes to a different level the longer you are on.

I can write for days...so I’ll stop here. Hope to hear from you.

If you want to hear anything further about the sugar cane juice experience. Or if you have done the sugar cane route; I would love to hear from you too.

I'm going to sign off and indulge in my sugar cane cocktail.

Peace.

Hi Idelia;Just wanted to stop by to say "Hello". I may not go as far as you, but this is my first cleanse and I am the end of Day-13. So far it's been great, I briefly entertained the thought of going beyond 20 days, but still not sure.
I am also from the Caribbean, although I no longer live there.

Wishing You All the Best

HI idelia,

I would love to hear more on the sugar cane experience thingy. How do u mix it with the Lemonade since it is basically a drink in itself and not as thick as Maple Syrup or Agave Nectar? Pls tell us more abt it (if it's good enough, i might use it in my next round of MC). Thanks and good luck!

Hey Guys or should I say Lemonheads!!!..Hope you are all good...I'm Redspice
Awwwww I'm glad to be a part of this forum....Good Vibes, with my Lemon head buddy Idelia, Just finished an awesome spin class.
Yes Lemonheads we are at actually on day 25...Its truly a great feeling when you can hear people at the gym and work saying "hey you're looking great. I've actually had three people at work asking about the MC..they want to try it.

I've actually done this cleanse before with Maple Syrup but I never felt as energized as I am now doing it with Raw Sugar Cane Juice, the results that I'm seeing so far are fabulous, I have never been one to own a scale so I cant tell you how much weight I've lost...but guess what! I am pulling out all my clothes that couldn't even come over my hip and now wearing them to work, I am sooooo happpyyy, skin is looking great, my stomach is almost flat and I am smiling. I am excited to see what I will look like at Day 40

I feel sooo good sometimes I dont even remember that I am on the MC ...Idelia and I are always sharing our experiences and findings and we want to share everything with you

The cane juice mixture is really easy if you can get your hands on it. Idelia and I are from the caribbean so we go to our supplier every other weekend to get our stash (Has to be kept frozen until ready to use)

The mixture is 10oz of Fresh Cane Juice
2 table spoons of lime/lemon juice
and of course Cayenne...everything else is as follows including laxative teas and SW flush

As the cane juice is naturally sweet we water it down a bit sometimes I do 5oz cane juice and 5oz water but everyone's taste buds are different.....Please feel free to ask about our experiences

Stay Positive

Day 26 comes to an end...every have one of those days ...it just up and disappears....where did the hours go. Probably a good thing so I am not counting the hours for the day to end to bring me closer to Day 40...lol.

But things are going well.

Bennie, thanks for responding. How is your first cleanse going for you? Challenges? Surprises? Hey where in the Caribbean are you from. I am actually from colder parts of the world and have relocated to Barbados.

athene...thanks for posting...cane juice...where do i begin...lol...as redspice mentioned 10oz of cane juice is the requirement but it is REALLY sweet...i am totally opposite of a sweet tooth so i will water it down plus the limes cut down the sweetness...add the cayenne...quite the nice cocktail...the interesting thing i'm finding is i have never been low on energy...i am not out training for a marathon but i keep up a pretty good pace day to day...sometimes i feel like i don't need to drink the required 60oz...i feel that good...but i know it's been advised for a reason and i make sure to get the required amount as well as plenty of water....i've seen repeatedly to aim for half your body weight and drink that many ounces of water a day...we get it here for $10BDS/ $5USD for 1/2 gallon...which is not bad...so far i have purchased about 9 1/2 gallon bottles...so roughly $45USD which is going to run out on day 29/30...maple syrup over here is $55BDS/ $27.50USD for 32 oz bottle...which is not a big supply for a long cleanse.

i don't think i would have lasted this long using maple syrup...and i would totally recommend giving it a try if you can access cane juice...feel free to ask any specific questions...i'm glad to answer...

right now my focus is plan the transition off of the MC...i have never been big on soups...and i'm attempting to move to raw...so raw soups...and i'm trying to establish what i will eat ...looking for substitutes of things i previous ate..oops...let's not talk about food here...

right ...here ends another day...i am aiming to increase the amount of cayenne to shake up this detox a bit...

anyway...i'm outta here...congrats to all of you out there for another day on this beast...lol...ahhhh..i love it...until tomorrow..

peace

Thanks, Redspice & idelia. I was wondering, how did the weight lost go for both of u? How much weight have u lost so far since starting with the MC? Mind sharing? And did u both do any gym or home exercises such as elliptical? Thanks in advance.

Hi Redspice & Idelia; Glad to hear you are both doing great, and enjoying your MC experience. I heard from someone on another Forum, who lives in Trinidad and is having a problem getting Lemons because it is seasonal there. I am also from Trinidad, but live in Los Angeles now.
I am on Day-15, and continue to be amazed that I can still keep going.
I will be cheering you on to the completion of your Cleanse.

All the Best

Heyaaa, I dont even know what day I'm on ...ohhh rightt Day 28 lol, thats how smooth it's going, just sipping on some tea at the moment, planning out my day in my head...hmmmm which store should I visit, treat myself to a hot dress, playsuit or whatever is dammm sexy!

Yes Benni and Athene, so glad you guys responded to us, we never get bored of sharing Idelia and I and we both have quite similar experiences of just a good general feeling, energetic, clear minds....It's Awesome, Fantastic, just positive in every way.

We use limes instead of lemons, my mom has a lime tree in her yard and it has some of the juiciest limes, but we had a storm about 2 weeks ago which partially crippled the tree, so now I have to ask friends or buy from Supercentre.

I've lost quite a bit of weight, as I said before I'm not one to own a scale and will never, simply because I am someone who goes to the gym on a regular basis, I do weight training, spinning, and a little bit of running on the treadmill, so I'm gaining some muscle tone as well...Idelia and I did a Spin class last saturday morning, it was great, got to really sweat.
I'm just one to look in the mirror each morning, try on something that I know could not fit me in the last year and go from there...I'm loving my body at the moment, and I know I will fall in love all over again at DAY 40...soooo happpyyyy...but Yes I have definitely lost some weight and not just water weight...FAT!!..

I hope you guys are at least doing some form of exercise just to keep the body tight and firm. Fasting is such a good thing to do for the mind, body and spirit... My head is so clear as what I want to do for next year, i.e finishing my health specialist course and looking into starting a nutritionist course...I'm more focused, feels great!

I'm soon gonna get ready to go shopping as I said go buy something hottt....hehhehhehehhe....
Also Idelia and I are meeting up in the morning to do a Spin class, then hit the SAUNA, ridding the body of more TOXINS

Have a great Day Lemonheads and stay positive!

Redspice, I'm impressed !! Your enthusiasm is so contagious. I am inspired to keep going for 30 days.
I am moderately sedentary, as I really don't like to go outdoors, but do some exercise indoors. At present the weather here is so unpredictable, one day we are in the 50's, then we go anywhere from 70's-90's the next. Ending day 16, and still feeling well.

Continued Success to you both.

The sun has set on Day 29!!!

Hey out there. Sorry to go MIA. One thing I have found on this cleanse was to not try to be a super hero and do it all. I have had to pick up the pace at work and rather than balance it all I take my attention off other things aka coming her & working out, etc.

But I'm going to commit to coming here daily as the last 10 days role on.

Where to begin...randomly...alright...supplies.

That is one adjustment about living on an island, not having the guarantee that an item is stocked in some grocery store somewhere. In the begin, Redspice and I realized we had to plan ahead in order to be well stocked on the cleanse. We had a "little" hurricane and our sugar cane supplier did not have electricity for 2 weeks! He had a backup generator to keep his small supply frozen but he was not grinding. Luckily we buy our sugar cane to last a week at a time so we were ok. I went to make our weekly purchase of twelve 1/2 gallon bottles yesterday...and he had 4 in stock. But he has juice again so the grinding should happen tomorrow and we will be taken care of Wednesday latest. If all else fails...we could do maple syrup; yeah right…lol. We pretty much have it worked out that we need limes right now and I keep my eyes open for trees and I am willingly to ask anyone if I can pick off their tree. Worse case scenario, the supermarket.

We are going to have to make the orange juice transition shortly, so I started buying orange juice and grapefruit juice which I am freezing. Again I don't want to be stuck not finding it when I'm ready for it.

Weight...yeah...lost a bunch of weight. I think it is inevitable if you are eating nothing for 29 days. I don't do scales because I am a muscular build and muscle weighs more than fat so the number really does not mean anything to me. My bottoms; shorts, skirts are falling to the ground...literally. I can see it in my face...my six pack has made its reappearance...superficial stuff. But the mental clarity...WHOA!

I think the major epiphany the cleanse has highlighted for me...when you put energy into something and you are committed nothing will/can get in your way. It's like I made this commitment on a deeper level to achieve this and everything else has paved a way to make it happen. Sounds flakey - but there has not been one occurrence that has presented a road block. If a door closed; a draft would come through a window directing me to take the alternate route. To apply this to anything in life...you would feel invincible....like I do now.

I mentioned I have put working out on the back burner. I'm a morning person, and a night owl actually, so I normally would be up at 4am to do a workout; 5- 6 days a week. I like the first activity of the day to be for me, not an employer. Now work has me doing some late nights. I still wake up at 4...having gone to bed at 1-2am. But taking into consideration the cleanse i don't push myself. (And I keep the late nights to a minimum.) I do get in spinning on Saturdays and 3-4 late mornings (7am) I get in a kettle bell workout. I don't want to look like a waif; I want tone and definition. Sometimes I don’t feel like working out when I get to my spot, so I log an entry about the cleanse and just be still. No pushing; I mean I’m already doing this intense cleanse no need to exceed the demand on myself so I set myself to fail.
I can “talk your ear off” so I’ll stop here. I should mention I did my second water fast in this cleanse today with coconut water. I figured this would be the best time, within this cleanse to do a water fast; when I’m already not mentally processing food. It went really well. The first time I did it with distilled water on day 13 and 14. Those were the hurricane days so I just laid down and drank a gallon of water.
Today I did a spin class and sat in a sauna for 30 minutes, Downed over a ½ of coconut water …feel wonderful. No issues. I would like to one more coconut water fast next week-end…my last MC week-end. My point is to intensify the detox.

I’m really gone now; try to make this an earlier evening…bed before midnight….not a chance.

Stay strong.

Peace.

Day 30 over-

This is quite exciting!

30 days into my first master cleanse...if you could see the grin on my face.

Things are still going well. I did have a slight canker in my mouth. The lime can be a killer. But I Have been drinking with a straw to avoid the excess contact of lime in my mouth. On occassion I tend to forget. I am conitnuing to increase the cayenne in my sugar cane cocktail as well.

Cane juice supplier said he will be stocked my this Wednesday...so I will purchase my last five 1/2 gallons of cane juice to be associated with this cleanse. Probably need a little more cayenne too...and limes.

One change I didn't really register before, my hair has grown- I've noticed a change and up to yesterday I had someone comment on this.

I have got a plan down for coming off the detox. What I read it should be a slower process once you have been on the MC for 40 days. I will go into the plan next entry.

I'll keep this entry short...for a change...lol.

Happy detoxing today.

Peace.

Day 31...and I just experienced a real food craving.

I'm driving home wanting to bite into something not sweet; but with lots of flavour.

Hallucination my error of course. I should have had an emergency cocktail in case I was delayed getting home; which is exactly what happened.

For the day I had about 30 oz of tea, two 20 oz cane juice(with lime and lots of cayenne) and I had about 30 oz of coconut water. But that took me to about 3ish. I had to run an errand on the way home...so about 7 oh...and I have spent the day researching the soups I’ll be preparing post detox and the raw foods I'll be moving into. Those food pictures...whoa.

So about 7pm; I’m fantasizing about food I probably won't be ready to dive into for another 3 weeks. But as soon as I got in my door; downed cane juice and I was good to go.

I was just having a conversation with Red Spice that I have not really even thought about food this whole time. And bam...my episode.

Otherwise...great day. Can't believe there is only 9...well really 8 full days left.

I have to pick up cane juice tomorrow.

About to down some senna tea and chill.

Stay strong.

Peace

Hi Idelia and Redspice; You both amaze and inspire me. Maybe next time, and there will be a next time I will remember you both, and go a lot further than these 23 days.
I look forward my ease-out with anxiety and apprehension. Doing the Cleanse has been a no-brainer as far as 'meals' go. What happens next, will be the real test. I am not a person for junk and processed foods, but I do like Meats.
It's very surprising to me that I too, am never hungry, but get cravings periodically. The Cleanse has helped me differentiate between the two.

Continued Success

Hi idelia,

I have a question for you (or RedSpice, whoever wants to answer). Since you guys are using pure cane juice (i assume - no preservative, coloring, etc.), how many days does 1 Liter of cane juice last in the fridge? Because i bought the cane juice before (pure-bottled) and put it in the fridge, but it went sour after only 1 day and i had to throw it away. I would love to use Cane juice in my 3rd MC next month, but it'll be a big problem if the cane juice doesn't even last 1 day in the fridge. How do you guys do it? Thanks.

I've lost track of these days again...happens when you write an entry at 2 in the morning...technically 7 days left...I guess...day..33...

feeling good...no cravings as mentioned in last post...lol... had a much shorter work day so I kept the supply up until i got home...have not really focused on the training I’m letting my body keep the energy to detox...figured I will pick up working out more intensely next week...I have a goal to compete in a half iron man in September 2011 in Mexico...so I need to get into a consistent training routine to build my endurance...new chapters about to begin!

bennie...23 days...fantastic...isn't coming to an end such a feeling of accomplishment? do you have a goal to move away from meat entirely someday or just reduce your intake?? how did the transition go? are you still on oj or have you introduced soups or foods yet??

athene...great question with the cane juice...I was worried at first because it does "go off" quickly. But the gentleman I buy from instructed to keep it in the freezer to keep it fresh. They are coming in plastic containers. In the morning I will set it in a bowl of room temperature water, get ready for the day. Then when I come back to it, 20 minutes if that, ...15 - 20 oz has liquefied. I pour that off and return it to the freezer until I want to use it again. What I have been doing this past week is keeping one frozen 1/2 gallon bottle in the fridge and it melts at a slower pace but stays fresh. This way I don' t really have to place the bottle in water. And in the 30+ days of using the cane juice not one drop of spoilage.

Funny enough I went to make a purchase today; cane juice. I haven't told the suppler, an older guy on this massive ground (aka farm) what I’m doing with the cane juice. But in short intervals I have bought between 5- 10 1/2 gallon bottles in one shot (for myself and Red Spice). Today..he finally caved and asked if I was running a restaurant. I had to hold back my laughter. I like the idea of keeping it under wraps about the detox while on it. Keep out external distractions (you know the gasps and looks of "are you nuts!") at bay. So I did not go into detail with him; assured him we were about to slow down our purchasing. The 8 1/2 gallons I purchased today will take me (4 for me) through the last 7 days and then I will still have a cup or two during the orange juice transition. Also picked up a 1/2 gallon of coconut water; I still plan to do the coconut water fast this week-end. I will keep that frozen until needed as well. I always end up starting the water fast looking for a supply the day of; a little proactivity this time.

Sorry...I can never be brief...I’m out.

Stay strong!

Peace.
