Wow, okay, here goes....My name is Rajdulari and I'm 27 years old, African American, 5'3'' and 225 lbs. I'm late in starting this post because I've had some trouble registering and I wasn't exactly sure I wanted to put all of my thoughts in writing. Not because I don't think others would benefit, I've hesitated because I'm nervous about sticking with it.

That said, I've read so many wonderful posts on here that have really helped me stay on course, PD's many encouraging entries, Nia's, Angela's (I actually have a friend named Angela Taylor so I thought that was a wonderful coincidence) and Janns, whose record I'm hoping to beat with my forty day cleanse, ;) but we'll see. :D

At any rate, I will begin. I have been keeping a log, and I also meet with a nutritionists once a week who has been instrumental in helping me start this fast, helping me learn more about colon health and is also just a really good friend, which is the greatest help of all. Her name is Pam Haba, she's the daughter of Dick Gregory and I tell you, if you're ever in the Boston area you should go see her www. healthycleansing.com.

I have been wanting to change my habits for some time now. I've always been full figured, but in my early twenties that meant 175, about thirty pounds over my ideal weight. Many things happened, my mother got sick, I ended a relationship, I moved into my own place, changed jobs and before I knew it, I was 230 lbs. That was a shock for me. I had developed all of these really bad eating habits (OMG I love bbq chick wings with blue cheese dressing, LOL) and food became my answer to everything. If I was tired, I'd say I was eating for energy, or sad, I would eat it away. Stressed? Well, I'll just indulge myself because I'm working so hard.

Every little thing became a reason to eat and I became more and more unhappy. Finally I called my friend, Pam. I was desperate. She does colonics and at first I just wanted to go to her to find a way to stop myself from eating. I was having fried foods for breakfast lunch and dinner and I would be so dissapointed in myself and the way I looked every day.

My friend Pam, is in her mid-forties, and she MAY way about errrr 135 140 (I haven't asked her, just guessing) and she is just a bundle of energy and she makes you excited about living healthily.

So, I first started with just trying to not have fried foods and coffee. That wasn't so hard, since Pam had started me on a morning shake with fresh berries, organic apple juice, one frozen banana, a tbsp of Miracle Greens, and a tablespoon of flaxseed.

After two weeks I felt much better and begin to feel more in control of my eating habits. At my next visit I suprised her by announcing I was going to start the big MC.

I found a helpful worksheet to log my daily stuff in on peter glickman's website www.therawfoodsite.com and that has helped me keep track of how I'm doing each day.

Thanks for reading this long post, I sincerely appreciate your comments and thoughts.

I was afraid to start the fast in the morning without having anything in my belly, so I started my first day of the fast at 1:30p. What follows are my notes that day.

(btw- when I first met with Pam I was 232 lbs.- On this first day after meeting with her for two weeks I was down to 230)

Day 1

am- Morning shake, 5 natural ginger candies, 1 pear, 1 lean cuisine, 1 IBC root beer

pm- starting at 1:30p 8 lemon drinks 1 colon cleanse pill (pam had given me a 30 day supply of Original CleanseSmart a pill to be taken morning and afternoon to help cleanse the colon so I did that instead of the tea)

Day 2

am 1 Emergen-c (strawberry) 1 morning shake, 1 colon cleanse pill

2:30p SWF (yuck, yuck yuck, ugh that stuff is SO NASTY)

9 lemon drinks

1 colon cleanse pill

weight- 228 lbs

note: I have added drinking emergen-c once a day because the last time i did this fast for five days i had to stop because i felt really dehydrated.

On this, day 2, I felt really tired, groggy and incredibly cranky today, I was snapping at everybody. I wasn't really hungry, though.

AM SWF I morning shake, one cc pill (about 6 BM's, lol!)

1.5 lemon drinks in the morning.

Had a sad conversation with a friend, which was really hard because usually that's a reason for me to eat something, but I couldn't this time, so it was interesting to just sit with my emotions and figure out a way to breathe and try to let go. Physically I felt pretty good, not tired or cranky.

5.5 drinks the rest of the day.

Last night, I did pretty well even though I was cranky during the day, I put some nice fabric on from a skirt I used to wear when I was smaller, I burned sage and incense and cleaned my house and did the laundry. I woke up at 4 am feeling restless and jittery, had a bottle of water and a lemon drink and felt better.

Day 4- 226 lbs!

Last night, I soaked in a bath with Epsom salts, citrus oil and natural soap for about an hour. I went out to hear a friend's band play and was proud of myself- I only drank water. She even asked me to order food for her and keep it at my table and I didn't touch it at all. Yay! I had another lemon drink and went to bed.

am SWF, 1 morning shake, 1 cc pill

1 emergen-c, 1.5 lemon drinks

6 lemon drinks

2 glasses of water

This morning, I woke up to the sound of rain, it's been raining for a while now in Massachusetts. I kinda feel the same like my body isn't changing much, but I'm going to keep going.

2:30p I had a colonic with Pam and I feel much better. Talking to her gives me a lot of encouragement and excitement about what I'm doing and how I'm trying to change my life.

Day 5 227.6 lbs

I had a performance last night (by the way, I'm a vocalist, currently in three bands and I have a full time job, who has time to eat, anyway, right? lol) It was a catered affair with free food and free alcohol but I drank lemon water all night and didn't touch a thing. After the gig I was able to drink my MC (I'd left the pitcher I'd made in the car) so I felt better after that.

am SWF 1 shake

CC pill, 2 lemon drinks

6 drinks

Day 6- 225 lbs

Had a pretty good night last night. I spent the entire day by myself, cleaning house. I bought a new plant and transferred a smaller one to a bigger pot. I also picked up the final cd from Dave for the band, now officially in print! my band is www.sonicbids.com/thedavidzofferdifferential. I was excited about that. I also did an official detox bath after getting some baking soda, apple cider vinegar (for ph balance) and epsom salts from the co-op. I gave myself a manicure and pedicure also. Toward the end of the night I began to feel a bit restless and had a serious bout of insomnia. I didn't get to sleep really until about 3:30a and tossed and turned for a long time. I hope I get more sleep tonight.

am SWF cc pill

1 shake

8 drinks

1 emergen-c

1 cup mint tea (omg it was delicious, lol)

rajdulari and all,
Thanks for your posts and enthusiasm. The registration process is not completely automatic and instantaneuous because we are constantly fighting to keep the porn and spammers out. When the board was set to automatically approve registrations - the spammers were automatically getting user names and then going to town on spamming the board. We turned off the automatic approval and now "human edit" and approve all requests for user access. Occasionally, when we're not sure if a request is from a real MC fan, we reply with a simple request for information and to make sure the email address is real before approving the registration. I try to personally check for new registrations multiple times per hour and approve them as fast as possible. Sometimes I sleep, eat (veg), walk and spend time with family - not always in that order of priority. When those things occur - I get the registrations approved within a few hours or next morning at latest. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. Keep the questions and success stories coming!

14 Days! and Counting!

Wow, I'm really excited, I hope these posts are benefitting someone I have noticed people have read them but not responded. Anyhoo, I am now on day 14 and I'm down to 216 pounds. I feel really good and I've noticed my clothes fitting better.

Some of my friends have been encouraging, but some of them have driven me crazy about the whole "you're gonna not eat food for 40 days??!!!??" thing.

I look at it this way, it took me 28 years to pack all of the toxins into my body and my system, I can wait forty days to let my body work on restoring its natural balance.

I feel really good. I've gotta tell you, though, doing the SWF is definitely better than the tea. After 12 days of doing the SWF I decided to take a break and try the tea, after taking it one morning and then again in the evening I kept being woken up in the middle of the night having to eliminate, it was a real DRAG. I love the SWF: I can wake up at 630-7am do the SWF and be ready to leave my house for work by 8a. Not to mention, I don't feel as "squeaky clean" with drinking the tea as I do with the flush AND the tea makes my stomach cramp. Yuck....

So anyway, that's my update, I hope it's helpful, I have certainly been blessed by reading the many posts on the forum and hope to keep going on this cleanse for the entire forty days. 14 down, 26 to go! Yay! :D

Glad to see you've stuck with it rajdulari. :)

I couldn't agree more about your comments on the tea vs. the SWF. I don't use anything but the SWF.

12 pounds in 14 days! Good for you! 8)

Just imagine after you stick with it for the 40 days. You'll break that 200lbs. barrier.

I am currently doing a short fast to get under 210lbs. Earlier today, I was trying to remember the last time I was under 210lbs. :?

I think it was a good 4 years ago when I went on Atkins and got down to 208. Hopefully, with any luck, in a few days, I'll be under 210 and I'll stay there.

Good luck and stay strong! :)

Yeah, I got on the scale today at home and it said 214, that's down 18 lbs. However, I got on the scale at work today and it said 209.5 (WHOA!)

So now I have to check my scale at home, because my boss and I did an experiment on the scale here (him standing on it, then adding a 25lb weight) and we found out the scale is correct. SOOOOOO. Either way, I'm really excited about the progress I'm making.

PD, I've read all of your posts and I just have to say your words and thoughts have really helped me. I think I'm sort of in the same boat with you, trying to get under 200 (even if it damn near kills me, lol) and just trying to come up with a plan that works for ME. Regardless of what everyone else says.

So, thank you. And good luck on your fast!

Perhaps you lost 4.5 pounds just walking into work.

I don't know if my home scale very correct, but it is the only one I use. I don't want to be having to guess my "real" weight. I'll just pretend it is accurate and go from there.

The weight on the scale is just a number, a motivational tool if you will. In the end I have to be happy with the progress I have made, and so far this year I am. :)

Thanks for your kind remarks on my journal. As I have said before, I am only too glad to post it since it helps me as much as everyone else.
