I'm on day 3 of my first Master Cleanse, and in the extra time I've had not cooking or eating I've been researching how to live the healthiest way possible. I've been looking at lots of websites on raw food diets, and I just wanted to say that I think it's hilarious that the way Americans eat is referred to as SAD (standard American diet), because it really is.

I went to Border's yesterday to get some books on raw food/vegan living, and out of the THOUSANDS of recipe books in a huge food section of the store, there were only two shelves on vegetarianism/veganism, and only THREE raw food recipe books. I almost gave up on looking for them, they were that hard to find. How sad is that??

In my ever-increasing spiritual growth, it is more clear to me than ever how sad it is the way we treat food. We will put poison in our bodies, sometimes even KNOWINGLY! We intoxicate ourselves and wonder why we're sick or tired or angry or have that spare tire or lung cancer. It actually makes me so sad for humanity (well, really Americans more than anything) that we continue to do this to ourselves. We will mindlessly shove things into our mouths while watching TV or driving, etc, when eating should actually be a holy experience! And believe me, I'm not separating myself from them. I eat well most of the time, but I'm guilty of poisoning myself more often than I'd like to admit.

I don't know, maybe the cleanse is just putting me in more of a spiritual place and as I ease off of it I won't remember that I felt this way, but I hope that I can hang onto this and treat my body with more respect than I have in the past.

Hello ihearthealth,

I know what you mean which is why Amazon is so wonderful. Also check out youtube... there are now many raw food recipes listed with firsthand demonstrations. All you have to do is plug in raw foods and a plethora of information will pop up.

Best wishes on your healing journey.
