Deb, Katinsea and Joi you're very welcome and best wishes to you all! I can really share with you that everything that I posted in this thread has changed my life! I feel so great. I still have dips and slips like everyone else, but sustaining myself with raw foods has healed a number of ailments I was grappling with and I've maintained all of the weight I lost on the master cleanse. The most important aspect of all of this is regaining my health above and beyond everything else. I can truly say I'm healthy of mind, body and spirit. Woo hoo!

Deb: I'm so excited for you. You will continue to experience so many wonderful epiphanies eating raw foods. Just pace yourself and enjoy all of the yummy recipes. Most of them are fun and easy to prepare. And they're really good!

Katinsea: I haven't been oil pulling lately, but when I was doing it I noticed signficant changes with my gums and teeth. My gums are pinker, stronger and healthier and my teeth are very white. It also healed a rash I had...you're literally pulling toxins from the entire body. It's pretty amazing. I'm glad it's working for ya. You're inspiring me to pick it up again. :)

Joi: I felt the same way when I was on those long master cleanses. All of that fresh food looked so scrumptious and it's all my body seemed to want post cleanse. It made it an easier transition for me I believe because I had already gone through all of the detoxification on the master cleanse. I think MCers get a jump start on this...some raw foodists claim that the first few weeks of being raw are very tough because they're also detoxing. I simply found it to be heavenly eating all of that great food. Still do!

Wishing everyone much success. Remember there are no raw food police, lol. Just take your time and do the best you can. Even if you have a green smoothie once a day and are getting more vegetables and fruits in your system, you're doing a world of good for your body.

Great idea Crystal (and Joshua). Working on it now. In fact - this topic is so fantastic it deserves it's own category! Watch for changes coming soon.

There are some nutrients in raw food that when prepared are destroy. When these food are consumed raw it help to give more vitamins in the body than when cooked.

Does anyone have an idea if I can use wheatgrass instead of the herbal laxative tea? I have plenty of wheatgrass and would hate not to be able to use it. :)

Oil Pulling...hmmm what is it?

I've been researching Oil Pulling, whereby you put a tablespoon of sunflower, sesame or cocount oil (organic & cold pressed) in your mouth and swirl it around in your mouth for 20 minutes minimum. Before you eat anything, in the morning you do this. I think some people do it twice a day, when they wake up and when they go to bed. The oil is supposed to turn white after you swirl for awhile, absorbing toxins...you're not supposed to swallow it for this reason, because it becomes toxic. You spit it out intermittingly and then add more oil, swirl it around, spit out it out, etc. It's supposed to pull toxins from your body, makes your teeth whiter and heals any dental issues that you may have. People have been known to heal a number of ailments using this method. My teeth have been super sensitive from drinking all of that maple syrup so I'm going to try this and to see if it helps. It's also supposed to help with your skin, makes it softer, especially the soles of your feet. There's a lot of information on the web about it...I found these sites if you'd like to look into it for yourself: http://www.oilpulling.com/
http://www.curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=738

Update: I oil pulled for 2 months in November and December. My teeth were definately brighter and my skin became very soft. I also healed some pain in the right side of my mouth. This is a great way to whiten your teeth naturally and also pull toxins out of the body.

Just don't swallow it!

Just one question though, I have braces on and wondering if oil pulling will be as effective as it would be on 'normal' teeth.

Hello RAWloverYogini (great moniker) :)

I do not know the answer to your question, it's a first. My recommendation, not medical advice, is to say try it for a few days and see how you feel and if you notice any significant changes to your braces. Your orthodontist might be better able to share if it might affect you adversely, especially if you wear special gear on your braces as well. I'm a little out of the loop on modern braces, so maybe that doesn't apply anymore.

Best wishes,
GC
