This is the first day of the cleanse. I've been doing this cleanse periodically since the late 80's... This time I have made a commitment to cleanse for the full 30 days. I know there will be a lot of challenges with this, because food is the central focus of many social gatherings, and it can be difficult to abstain from eating when everyone else is.

I've never done a full 30 days before. 10 days is the most I've done, and I am concerned how I will feel mid-way. I usually have such a strong desire to eat real food, and the lemonade gets old after a week! However, I really want this to be different for me. I have been overweight for a decade now, and have been displaying addictive behaviors toward food after quitting drinking and smoking. I plan to make this a spiritual experience for myself, as well as a physical healing. I want to separate myself from food for this extended period so I can resolve my addiction issues.

So, here goes. I am mentally ready for this commitment, and my body is dying for a break!

Thought I'd stop by your thread and say hi. I hope your day one is going great so far. I know the lemonade would get really old fast for me, also. That's one of the reasons that I'm incorporating fresh vegetable/fruit juices daily, too. I have a juicer and intend to make use of it for as long as I am cleansing.

I would love to offer support to you along the way, and I could use the accountability for myself. Keep posting!

Ok, Day 2 and going really well! I feel so awesome on this diet. Even though I'm experiencing some "detox" symptoms, I can really feel my body ridding itself of inflammation and extra body fluid! My body also really appreciates a break from the "work" of digesting. It's awesome.

This time, I'm really mentally ready. I've made up my mind that I'm not eating, and that's that. So I'm not stressing about it. of course, it usually becomes a challenge after the 10 days, but I really think it's going to work out for me!

Was super busy yesterday and didn't get a chance to sign on... I'm feeling the "de-tox" symptoms of being head-achy, sluggish, and don't feel quite well. One great thing about this program, though, is that every day gets better. I'm planning on doin the SWF every day to keep moving this *crap* out of my system. I also plan on getting at least a little bit of exercise in. I figure that will also help to stir things up a bit... For anyone who is reading this, hope you have a wonderful day!

Hi, Tracy! Just thought I'd pop in and check on you. The detox symptoms are definitely not any fun, but at least we know we're getting rid of lots of junk.

I'm planning on starting to get some exercise in, too. I'll probably start with walking/running on my treadmill, and eventually, I want to work in some weight training so that I can be nice and toned after I lose all this extra weight. I can't wait to actually start feeling more energetic and healthier. I am so sick of feeling tired and draggy all the time.

Hope you're hanging in there, and get to feeling fab!

Hey, Anna!
Glad you're hanging in there! The first 4 days are usually the worst... it's all downhill from here! :)

I'm getting ready to go workout, myself. I've been REALLY slacking on the workouts... but I figured that if I work up a sweat, that will help to release the toxins. I think when I reach the 10 day mark I'm going to start using the sauna, too.

WE ARE DOING IT, GIRL!! :P  :)

Hey, it's hard to believe that it's been four days already! Time is going by crazy fast. I hear you on the exercise. I have been slacking off big time, but I plan on getting back into it. I think you're right that exercise will help clear the toxins out more quickly. I have a rebounder, and I plan on using that frequently while I'm cleansing. I've read that it's great for clearing out the lymph system. I can't wait to see how we're both feeling (and looking!) by the time our fasts are finished.

Posting on this forum, and having support and accountability has been a great help. So here's a big Thank You for that! Let's keep it up!

Thank YOU, too, Anna! It really does help to have some "accountability".

Funny... I have a rebounder, too   Maybe as time goes on we can do a rebounder challenge or something...

I'm doing a lot better today. One thing I really need to do is try to get at least 8 hours of sleep. My body is really needing some extra recoup time. I've been tired and sore today from the workout yesterday. BUT, I was doing great on the elliptical! I limited myself to 30 minutes because it has been a while since I've worked out, but I really could have done more.

5 DAYS DOWN, 25 to go! Woot!

I haven't had time to post, but I am still going strong on the cleanse! (this is DAY #8)... I'm feeling great... not as great as I expected, though. I'm more tired than I have been (on the cleanse) in the past.... not really sure why. Maybe because my body has so much more detoxing to do this time :?:

I had a huge victory yesterday... I went to a large picnic pot luck. I was going to skip it, because I knew it would be a horrible temptation, but there was going to be live music and I didn't want to miss out on the fun. Plus, I figured that I HAVE to face the fact that I'm going to be around food and people who are eating, and I just have to deal with it. It has really helped to keep myself in a mental focus of cleansing for 30 days. When I smell food, I don't dwell on how great it smells or how great it would be to taste it. I have made up my MIND that I WILL stick with this, and that's that. It was SUPER hard to be around all that food... but when everyone started going through the food line, I went for a walk. I also brought plenty of lemonade and water with me and drank quite a bit. It was a good thing the picnic site was close to a bathroom! :P  I am soooooo proud of myself! I totally can be strong when I want to be--the challenge is wanting to!

I've also been doing some light to moderate exercise, and it's been wonderful to get my "mojo" back  WOOT!

Hope everyone has a great week!

I see you've already answered the question that I had for you on my thread......... you are on Day eight, too. Yea!!!!! Congratulations on making it through the picnic. I'm not so sure that I would have been as strong. I might have talked myself into trying a bite here and a nibble there LOL
Very smart to take along all that lemonade. You definitely should be proud of yourself.
Congrats, too, on getting your exercise in. You're a better woman than me. I've been meaning to do that, but still haven't gotten around to it. I'm planning on doing a workout tonight, though. Hopefully, I don't allow anything or anyone else to get in the way of that.

Just being curious with this question: Do you have any plans on how you'll be eating after the cleanse? I'm trying to think ahead. I don't want to just start consuming anything and everything, and totally undo any good that I've done for my body with this cleanse. I do so well with forums like this that keep me accountable and offer support and motivation, so I'm thinking about joining weight watchers. I've been doing some research and I really think the meetings would do a lot to keep me on track.

Hope your day's going great and I'll yak atcha later!!!!

Hey, congrats on hitting day #8!

Yes, I have given my "Post-diet" a lot of thought... I am signed on as a member of Weight Watchers at work, but have not been following the program AT ALL, which is one reason that prompted me to doing the cleanse. Many people go on a raw diet after cleansing, but personally, I am too much of a carnivore to do that :P .

Anywho, I am planning on eating mostly veggies, plus a moderate amount of lean protein, and low sugar fruits, like berries. It's basically a low-er carb diet that I've been on before called the Rosedale diet, and I was really successful on it. I'm also going to stick with WW and count points (my employer pays 3/4 of the WW fees, so it's really cheap--I need to take advantage of that).

So, that's my plan. I'm counting on the fact that, by the end of the 30 days, I will appreciate good nutritious foods enough to not have the cravings for the bad stuff. I'm with you, and REALLY don't want to go back to eating the way I was.

OK, so tomorrow is day 10!!

I'm OVER the HUMP :D :D :D I've passed the 10-day mark and am on day 11 today! W   t! Every day gets better and better. I'm still trying to do moderate exercise every day--even if it's just 15 minutes.

It really does help to stay in a mental attitude about eating. I went to a picnic on Saturday, Monday I had a training at work and they catered lunch... Friday they're going to cater lunch again... there's always food around, so it's always something you HAVE to deal with. I've lost almost 10 lbs so far.

Hi, Tracy, I just wanted to stop in and say congrats on how well you're doing. It sounds like you're just getting better and better. Sadly, I'm not planning on going any longer. I'm dealing with a cold (I think). Sore throat, watery, irritated, hurting eyes, no energy. I will be eating a bowl of fresh vegetable soup this evening. I've got it slow-cooking in my crockpot right now. I haven't found the energy or sense of well-being that I was hoping to find. I've got some issues health-wise, and I think I probably need to focus on addressing everything individually before I can see a real and lasting improvement. I just recently discovered that I am more than likely suffering from hypothyroid, which would explain the crazy weight gain that suddenly occured. (51 pounds in three years). I also have all sorts of other thyroid-related issues like tiredness, scary hair loss, dry skin, low temp, recurring infections, irritability, the list goes on and on. I'm hoping to keep plodding along and get these health problems resolved naturally. I'm not real big on prescription medication.

Anyway, I'll continue to stop in and offer what encouragment I can while you're cleansing. Thank you for taking the time to post on my thread. It has been a great help in keeping me going.

I think I will probably join Weight Watchers. That's really fantastic that you have that option where you work, but I understand that it's not the right plan for everyone. It sounds like you have a good idea of how you want to eat when you're done with the MC, and it looks like a healthy, doable plan. I like the accountability that weight watchers has to offer, so I think I will be going that route.

Best wishes to you, and hope that your day is going great so far.
