Day 7 of 40
SW: 158lbs (03/25/11)
PW: 148.2lbs (03/30/11)
CW: 147.0lbs (03/31/11)
The beginning of another great day on the cleanse. After I closed up shop yesterday I was a bit tired but after finishing my lemonade for the evening and good night's rest, I awoke refreshed and in good spirits.
When I stepped on the scale this morning I was shocked to see that I had released another 1.2lbs. Shocked! I moved the scale to several different places in my apartment to make sure the floor was level. And I stepped on the scale once with a five pound weight and then without the weight again just to make sure that there was enough of a difference between my new weight and my previous weight that the scale wasn't "remembering" anything; see comment below. That's how floored I was. Every time it read 147lbs except twice when it read 146.8lbs. I decided to go with the best out of five, so I'm sticking with 147lbs for now.
At this point I am a bit worried about getting too comfortable seeing the scale move. There was only one day where the scale didn't move that much; I had a small .4lb gain that I later attributed to not drinking enough water. Maybe I haven't really been "tested." If losing weight is a principle part of why some (like myself) chose to undertake the cleanse then when you have a couple of days where you don't lose weight, how hard is it not to feel discouraged? I hate putting that energy out into the universe but it is what I am thinking at the moment and I am trying to be honest.
I had food dreams last night. This may have something to do with the fact that my best friend's husband's birthday (two possessives in a row, can I do that?) is coming up and I promised to make him a fruit tart from scratch. I was watching Youtube for tips on improving my pastry crust before I went to bed. I also watched an episode of Daria but that didn't seem to prevent the food from making its way into my dream. When I first woke up I felt really ashamed that I had eaten.
Then I realized it was a dream and was relieved.
As long as my activity levels stay high, I am going to continuing drinking the amount of lemonade I am; with the additional amounts of maple syrup. At this point it does not appear to be impacting my weight loss.
Tis all for Day 7! Best of luck and best of health!
Two public service announcements:
1. For anyone else contemplating a long cleanse, make sure to check out Jam0775's blog. Because it contains two cleanses in one I think most people assume it's over; it's also in success stories and not blogs. You are SO missing out. She is incredibly detailed and helpful. She is on her 26 of 40 days so she has also been there done that if you have questions and are somewhat of a newbie like myself. Here is a link to her blog:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=129422. Anyone who doesn't have a fairly expensive scale (i.e. more than $100) needs to make sure you are resetting your scale every time you move it. Also, cheap digital scales have scale memory. For example, let's say you were to stand on the scale and record a weight of 145lbs. If you were to drink 16oz (1 pound equivalent) of water and step back on the same scale, it would probably still read 145lbs. This happens because cheap digital scales are not sensitive enough to sense the difference between the two weights and thus revert to scale memory. (There is a great article on the web about this so as soon as I find it I will post a link). This is the reason that for some the same weight could show for several days and then two days later you will have a 3lbs loss. It's not that you weren't losing weight over those three days, it's just that it took 3lbs for the scale to register a difference. One way I combat this is by stepping on the scale once with at 5 or 10lb weight in between weigh-ins to make sure that it is not reading from memory but what my current weight is.
