Hey everyone, I am starting this journal for support and to connect with others who are also doing the Mater Cleanse.

I am in day 3 with 8 hours left till the beginning of day 4 and so far so good, but I am being VERY tempted by food today, more than the past 3 days. I hope I can fight it! :?
I am going to make myself another lemonade drink after writing this introduction and I hope it helps to ease the craving.

I am at the heaviest weight I have ever been without being pregnant and I want to change my habits, eating and lifestyle. Right now I weighed in at 144 lbs!! :( Here is hoping that this body detox will help me to reset all my unhealthy eating patterns.

I am planning to do the 10 day cleanse, but may increase it to 30 days after I am done, if I still feel sane. Many of my friends think I am crazy but after doing some research I am excited about the health benefits and to be honest, they already think I am crazy.. lol But I am definitely motivated and love challenges!
I am confident this is one of the biggest challenges I have taken on when it comes to my health and although smoking is not recommended, I hope to be quitting tonight at midnight. I have smoked cigarettes since I was 13 years old so it is quite tricky but I am trying to convince myself that if I can refrain from eating (which is my favourite thing) then perhaps I may also be able to kick the smoking habit.

I look forward to connecting with others who are also doing the cleanse I have also just noticed the Master Cleanse Facebook Page! Horray! I will post it in case some of you have not found it yet.. :D

good stuff misstammy.
. i am an ex smoker. the secret to quieting is every day you are with out a cigarette is a huge success even if you smoke the second day; give yourself a high five never ever insult your self for the accomplishment. i had to quit drinking for three months before i could quit.

i'm starting my cleanse on the seventh.

Hi Tammy....how is your cleanse going? what day are you on? I am on day 8 But I have given in to temptation 3 times and ate chips and dip.....Ugh! I feel like a failure but I keep at it the next day. The cleanse is very challenging! Like you I hope to quit smoking on this cleanse....However I found myself smoking more to get that hand to mouth fixation craved. I have smoked on and off since I was 13. I started up again about 1 1/2 yrs ago. My expectations are high this time with the cleanse. The cleanse is challenging emough let aline quit smoking too. I have read though that while on the cleanse it can help rid our body of those nicotine cravings. Let's be in touch. I wish you the best of luck quitting and staying on your cleanse. Go for longer if you can...stay connected it helps! Last year I did 40 days. I know I can do this again!! I'm not giving up! have a great day! Cat

Hey Cat,

Thanks for the reply, I am 2 hours away from beginning my 4th day. I feel you abut the smoking thing, it is very difficult for me for the same reason. I feel like it also suppresses my cravings for food. Tonight I was very tempted to stop as I watched my daughter eat supper, being a single Mom I cannot rely on anyone else to make sure she still eats healthy.

I think that today has been the most challenging, but then again it is Saturday and I was not at work so I ended up spending the whole day playing around on my computer. Tomorrow I plan to focus on cleaning the house, walking the dog and finishing up all the little tasks I have put off for so long.. like getting a new internet modem.. lol

Don't feel like a failure, at least you are still going!! & WOW! 40 days! That is incredible, did you also lose weight while you fasted?. Also if you did lose weight, was it noticable? I have my baby pooch that I am hoping will be affected by this cleanse, its the fat on top of the muscle s it is much more difficult to rid of it. Even if i work out (I have tried) then the muscles under the fat just pushes the fat up more :( (thus my desire to day a plastic surgeon..lmao)

We should def keep in touch, I look forward to talking more. :P

LMBO....Ohh How I know that baby pooch! I think cardio cardio cardio will be the only thing that will truly help us? I started a weigh in at 142 the last cleanse and I dropped down to 108. So yes! It was very noticeable. I was a rail. But my pooch stayed with me the whole time. Darn it!! Even at 108. Just a saggy one, not flat and firm like I thought would happen. lol Over the year I slowly gained weight again. Naturally we all gain back atleast 5-10 lbs. So when I do the cleanse to lose weight I aim for 5-10 less than my goal assuming I will gain some back. I stayed around 119-124 for several months Then when the holidays hit I gained another 12. I just allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted for 2 months. Not sure how old you are but Im turning 39 soon and I feel my metabolism and hormones(thyroid) slowing down. The cleanse helps me stay even. I try to do the cleanse for a fews days every month during my monthly cycle allowing myself to eat an apple and carrots. I don't always have success either....but atleast Im trying and conscious of my cycle. Even a one day a week cleanse I have read is good to do. Or 3/4 of a day. Don't be discouraged about your baby weight gain. Let it remind you every time of that beautiful child that has blessed your life forever!! We have time to lose weight.....let's do it right and for good with the cleanse as only A Beginning to kick start us into a more energetic and healthier way of living. Lifestyle changes are the only thing that is going to permanently help me. I need to exercise more consistently and firm up. We also really need to quit smoking. I know how bad it is...but like you...It's been a negative friend in and out of my life since 13 yrs old. Talking on this forum helps me......I stay focused better when I think someone is there for accountability and encouragement.

I am sorry to say this but I do not think I am going to make it past 12:00am tonight.. I am way too distracted by food tonight and I am actually salivating.. If I don't make it I will try again.. 45 mins from now would be 72 hours.... that is better than I thought I would make it.

Well last night I fell to temptation and had something to eat, it came right back up... Im starting again, it was NOT WORTH IT AT ALL! It wasn't half as good as it looked and throwing up made me feel horrible.

Because it came right back up I an going to say that I'm still on day 4 today, but will def spend a couple more days on the cleanse.

Good lesson learned...

Ohh Tammy I feel your pain! I did the same thing tonight. You are right!!! The food is not even as good as I was tempted with. It does come back up or out the other end....and it actually hurts for a few hours. Our digestive system has been resting on the cleanse so easing back into food with the broth is The Best way to eat again. I feel it even after 3 days on a cleanse let alone 12. Today is suppose to be day 9....But I will count tomorrow as day one. I am going to post all day tomorrow when I feel weak......I think closer tabs for me might just help me. If I were you I would consider myself still on the cleanse too because what you ate came right back up....Lesson learned! The cleanse is enlightening. We learn more about ourselves....how we think...our habits and relationship with food...It's a great personal challenge. You can do it Tammy! Stick to it...I'm here for you. Sleep well. see you tomorrow, Cat

Ok...this morning I slept in as long as I could and then prepared a bath and my quart of salt water to drink. I literally felt like puking!! That SWF does not get easier to take. I managed to get it all down and keep it down. After 20 minutes or longer it started to work. I was getting rid of stuff the first few times but the last couple times wasn't much. now Im soo thirsty my mouth feels dry. I'm starting to feel a bit more normal. It's been an hour since I first drank my saltwater. Im preparing some mint tea now w maple syrup. mmm can't wait to drink it.

Hey there MissTammy...I think I was posting on your other journal, but I'll start on this. Hope it's the right one. Hang in there...you can still do this! By throwing up, your body was speaking to you because it's ready for the MC, but it just needed to remind your mind.

I know how hard it can be to quiet those voices in our head that make us cave into our temptations...oh man, do I understand. Even though this time the MC is easier for me, it's not always been like that.

But pick yourself up...move forward...and keep believing.....We believe in you... :D 8) :P

Hi MissTammy!

Don't beat yourself at all! Many people fall off the wagon slightly but what counts is getting back on! If you read from some of my past cleanses, you can see that I have fallen off (more than a few times sadly) but I won't give up...and you shouldn't either. The guilt is the worse...leave it behind and you'll feel much better!

Cheering you on!
