Master Cleanser Diet Combo - Maple Valley
(Book & Quart Organic Grade B Maple Syrup)

Organic Maple Syrup (along with lemon juice and cayenne pepper) is a key ingredient of the Master Cleanser diet.

From Chapter 2:

"The maple syrup is a balanced form of positive and negative sugars and must be used, not some ‘substitute’. There are four U.S.D.A. approved grades of maple syrup. The earlier sap runs generally produce the lighter grades - Grade A Light Amber and Grade A Medium Amber, which was formerly known simply as Grade A. These lighter grades are mild in taste, sweet and with less mineral content than the darker grades. The mid-season runs generally yield mostly Grade A Dark Amber, formerly known as Grade B. Dark Amber has more mineral content and more "maple" taste. The end of the season brings mostly Grade B, which was formerly known as Grade C, with even more minerals and the strongest maple flavor. All grades can be used in the diet but the darker grades are the most desirable. The grading system is based purely on the relative deepness of the amber coloring and has nothing to do with the quality of the syrup, which is generally about the same for all organically produced maple syrup."

"Some uninformed operators of the sugaring of the maple syrup do use formaldehyde pellets in the process of tapping the trees but there are many more that don't. Search out and demand the kind not using formaldehyde. Maple Valley, in Wisconsin, does not use it. This is the kind I recommend."

About Maple Valley (sponsored):

Maple Valley is a fair trade company supporting organic family farmers. We consider every farmer and co-op we do business with an important alliance and take our pledge to give a sustainable pay price to our farmers very seriously.

Every year we meet with maple co-ops and individual farmers to determine a fair price. Because of this close relationship - we are able to create high standards of quality and consistency.

Our own standards and organic certification assures you that no synthetic pesticides or herbicides are used in woodland management, no formaldehyde has been used in the tapping of our trees, and there are limits to the number of taps in each, to ensure the well-being of the tree.

Our farmers are committed to a wholistic approach to the farming and production of our maple syrup for the health of their trees and the earth.
